The litter pick and clean up of Halton Moor Woods on Tuesday 15th October was a great success. After all the rain our prayers for sun were answered and apart from being a bit wet underfoot it was a lovely day. We had a good turnout with nearly 30 volunteers, including Councillor Helen Hayden and with the support of the staff from Temple Newsam we achieved an amazing result with nearly 250 bags of rubbish and general debris being collected.
Everybody who came was amazed at the amount of debris in the wood and we couldn’t complete everything, but it gave a great challenge and everyone felt that it had been a job well done – we will return to finish the job. We hope everyone’s efforts will be rewarded by the Wood being more cared for and a small minority not using it as a dumping ground
