As you will know, 2022 marks 100 years since the sale of Temple Newsam Estate to the City of Leeds. and the Friends of TNP are supporting an event being organised to mark this anniversary.
St Mary’s Church, Whitkirk, will be holding the annual service at the House on Sunday morning, 25th September, and their Heritage committee is planning a Talk during that weekend (date to be confirmed), with background about the Estate coming to the City of Leeds.
Dorothy Schofield (Whitkirk Heritage committee) has already gathered materials from various Archive collections and has been able to view relevant documents kept at Temple Newsam House.
It would be good to include in the talk memories from those who worked at the House or on the Estate before and after 1922 and we know there are many local families with such connections. Please let us know if you have any such written memories, diaries or photographs that you would be prepared to share with us and we will then pass on to Dorothy.
