The Friends of Temple Newsam Park have supported many projects throughout the park over the years, including:
- Providing mobility scooters to help more people get around the Park. We have funded 4 in all. In previous years purchased 2 hand push wheelchairs for the House and a mountain bike for police officers to monitor the Park
- The creation and improvement of pathways such as the Old Walk, Elm Walk, the path to the little Temple Walk, Piggy Walk, the Shroggs, the cobbles in the Stables courtyard and other pathways, creating better surfaces for people to enjoy their walks.
- The children’s playground, creating a space for children of all ages and abilities to play in safety. Donations include repainting and a sculpture.
- Dredging of the lakes, improving the quality of the water for the many varieties of wildlife which rely on them.
- Donated over £850 for 12 new benches throughout the Park, and £1,900 towards refurbishment of others – creating places for people to take a break and enjoy their surroundings. We are also one of 15 sites for Leeds Civic Trust’s Take A Seat project. LCT contributed £650 towards the project. See the bench in the children’s playground.
- Replacing, at a cost of £5,428, the blade in the sawmill, giving it many more years of life. More details
- We funded a Centenary tree to celebrate 100 years of Temple Newsam as a public space and over the years have provided plants and trees around the Park and the Bee Garden
