Temple Newsam House approached from the south in the early autumn.

This magnificent Tudor-Jacobean stately home is one of the more celebrated historic houses in England. Boasting over 30 interiors of outstanding decor, and sumptuous collections of furniture, ceramics, pottery, “old master” paintings and silverware, the House is full of treasures to explore. Set in over 1,000 acres of beautiful parkland you can also wander the grounds, enjoy a picnic and visit the Home Farm.

Dorothy Schofield’s Lecture last September about Leeds  acquiring Temple Newsam  in 1922 is now available as a book. Fully illustrated and printed in full colour, copies £6 including post can be ordered online  here

Copies will also be on sale at the Heritage Open Days at St Mary’s Whitkirk on Saturday 9 September 10-4 and Sunday 10 September 2- 4.


Visiting the House

The House is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm. The House is open for individual viewing with a new Audio Guide, but tours are also available. Please phone for details.

The Farm is closed on Mondays, except Bank Holidays and October school holidays. Until Covid-19 restrictions are eased further you need to book farm tickets online.

The Walled Garden and Show House are open from 1st March to the end of December from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm (or dusk).
